Is Windows a viable security infrastructure? (+ Skype Trojan)

Look out look out, there’s possibly a wallet-stealing/Bitcoin-mining Skype-spread trojan about, according to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=169414.0;topicseen Nothing particularly innovative, but always worth being careful. Of course it continues to raise an ongoing question I have: is Bitcoin on a (Windows) desktop viable? Not only the security concerns, but also the lack of secure tools out of the box (I’m thinking gpg/pgp here) make the “personal security infrastructure” hard to set up/support. In other words, Windows users – do you find there are too many things to learn in order to be confident that your Bitcoins are safe? What about you Mac/*nix users?
